The Deptford Project Café opens its doors to celebrate the 5th year of Deptford Design part of the London Design festival.

The café will also be open from the 14-16 Sept 11-6 pm and is the place to hang out, read the special edition DD07 newspaper and take advantage of the perfect mix of tasty refreshments and on-site exhibitions including a sensuous felt, crochet and knitted piece by textile designer Sara Kotch or a taste of Grace & Go’s contemporary home ware. And if you’ve got something bigger in mind, Binita Walia will be exhibiting a model of one of her large-scale architectural glass panel installations. The cafe an ideal base for exploring the many other activities in the area. Elsewhere, Greenwich Village will convert their massive studio space into a lavish display of Italian furniture, including the first chance to see a large selection of iconic pieces from Edra as well as new design pieces from Moooi, Pesce and Dilmos. Likewise, newcomers to Deptford, Wayne Maxwell Design will exhibit their stylish furniture for the first time, together with designer-maker Andrea Felice, giving people a chance to meet and buy work from both. DD07 is the perfect time to start exploring the wealth of creativity that Deptford has to offer. As one of London’s most dynamic and diverse areas, Deptford is a designer’s dream. If you can’t make it to Deptford, be sure to catch the Deptford Design Market Challenge at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall 15 – 25 September.
