Trash/Luxe at Liberty
20-30 September

Liberty - London’s leading emporium of style and design - will host a groundbreaking exhibition as part of the London Design Festival, celebrating the creativity of salvage. Curated by Marcus Fairs, Trash Luxe brings together a collection of young and talented designers who specialise in finding beauty in humble materials or salvaging otherwise unwanted goods, which they use to create beautiful, luxurious pieces.

Many young designers are exploring a “make-do and mend” approach, with the idea of appropriating existing objects and new materials and giving them new life emerging as a major design trend. Products are now behind designed out of ordinary, second-hand or unwanted materials and imaginatively used as the basis for furniture, lighting, tableware and other household items. This, in turn, causes us to re-evaluate what is precious to us, and re-think what we mean by the term “luxury”.
