Urban Affinity"Another world is not only possible, She is on Her way. On a quiet day, I can hear Her breathing." - Arundhati Roy
Urban Affinity is a small London based non-profit organization committed to building bridges between people, communities and cultures. Our mission is two-fold: to facilitate the flow, exposure, and growth of global art forms and to explore and support the sustainability and development of urban cultures. We do this by working primarily through arts and video production projects. Our aim is to support strong, inclusive, community based culture, which encourages and enables people to participate in the realization and growth of community.
This event is linked to a documentary film series on Black Europe. Some of the German performers are profiled in the first film in the series on Black Germany and Afro-German expression which will be screened in October 2008. Through these moments of coming together we hope to contribute to a more expansive and inclusive European community.
We invite EVERYONE to come for an evening of collaboration and creativity. The after party will be a place to dance and enjoy, but also facilitate creative collaborations across borders, those without, as well as those within.
The evening will consist of individual sets and collaborations between the German and British performers. The open mic jam session will run for approximately 30 minutes and is open to any and everyone, so we encourage folks to come with something to share.
